Bulletstorm: Full Clip edition is on Steam here and will release on April 7, just in time for the weekend. There’s a 15% pre-purchase discount on its £29.99 ($49.99) launch price, and pre.
Bulletstorm may not have enjoyed the same level of success that some of the shooters the game mocked have enjoyed over the years, but it did do well enough to justify the impending the release of Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition. While there was a time when a remaster of the game was more than fans could have ever hoped for, that remaster may very well dictate the future of the Bulletstormfranchise.
In an interview with Dualshockers, Gearbox representatives Meredith Hershey and Vincent Slaven alluded to the possibility of a proper Bulletstorm sequel.
“Duke (Nukem) and Bulletstorm kind of have a similar sense of over-the-top adventure and the same type of humor and stuff,” said Slaven in reference to whether or not Duke’s appearance in Full Clip could lead to another Duke Nukem game. “This Full Clip Edition is more or less a way to do that—because People Can Fly own the rights to the franchise fully—and they want to do more with it…they want to put this out to see like, ‘Do people still want Bulletstorm? Is there like a different climate now that would be more receptive?’ And if it is, there is definitely, probably gonna be an option for a Bulletstorm 2 following this.”
Sadly, he did throw cold water on the idea of a new Duke Nukem game.

So what are the odds that Full Clip Edition does well enough to justify a sequel? Pretty good, actually. Hershey put it best when she said during the interview that “2011 there was kind of a lot of first-person shooters that were coming out and (Bulletstorm) might have gotten a little lost in the fray.” The game’s biggest problem has always been that too few people know that it is actually an over-the-top parody of the shooter genre that offers some of the most enjoyable shooting mechanics in any game.
The recent success of Doom suggests that gamers might crave action-oriented, slightly ridiculous FPS games now more than ever. That need, combined with Bulletstorm‘s cult classic reputation, suggests that remaster might find the audience the original did not.
If you’re interested in giving Bulletstorm a shot, or just want to revisit the unique experience while you patiently wait for sequel news, Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition is scheduled to release on April 7th for Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Duke Nukem’s Bulletstorm Tour DLC, which is bundled free with pre-orders of Bulletstorm’s Full Clip edition, transplants the ‘90s gaming icon into Bulletstorm’s campaign. He gets voice lines and appears in cutscenes.PlayStation fan site got the chance to chat with Gearbox’s Meredith Hershey and Vincent Slaven of Gearbox about all of this.
They asked if there was “a way that Duke could also come back in a new game of his”, and whether his Bulletstorm tour was “a way for you guys to gauge interest in bringing him back”. Slaven’s answer:“Not so much. It’s pretty much like Meredith said that we were trying to think of things we could add to give more value to the customer: Duke Nukem came about in Bulletstorm because they were so similar.“But, kind of in relation to your question, this Full Clip Edition is more or less a way to do that – because People Can Fly own the rights to the franchise fully – and they want to do more with it.

And so they are kind of like – because game development is so expensive – they want to put this out to see like “do people still want Bulletstorm?” Is there like a different climate now that would be more receptive? And if it is, there is definitely, probably gonna be an option for a Bulletstorm 2 following this.“So it’s kind of not related but – Duke Nukem 2 no, but Bulletstorm 2, I think: maybe.”This tallies with what we learned when, who said“In theory, People Can Fly would love to do a sequel but that’s a pretty expensive venture. So this is sort of to test the waters and see if there is interest in a full sequel.”Bulletstorm: Full Clip edition is on Steam and will release on April 7, just in time for the weekend.
